Easy pieces for those days when you run errands. It seems like it's always sale time and of course I'm not immune to them. I picked up these two pieces for 30 bucks a pop. Shirt; Industries/ Skirt; Portmans. I'm wearing them with my witchery moss loafers and Michael Kors watch. I'm tempted to pick up another MK watch when I get to NY. Only 16 sleeps away now. Fashion school here I come!

I think I've found the most impractical way to solve the conundrum that we all come across every morning = A plethora of clothes but nothing to wear.

Recently, I've been noticing with many of my new purchases, that I've been wearing them for consecutive days and styling it differently, or... not if I'm lazy! So effectively, if I have something new in my wardrobe every few days or so, I may never think I have nothing to wear! That is until my conscience or bank account gets to me first. Yes, as I first sad, impractical, stupid and never going to happen if I am eventually going to get to New York in August!

Winter is officially here and I'm all confirmed for the fall semester at FIT NY! The funny thing is that I will miss spring here and in NY, which means I won't see Spring weather for 2 years! I'll miss it for sure. I've been rugging up in this Witchery cardi to a afternoon munch with friends.

The allusion of shorts being a skirt I think is my favourite. Just like my previous post with the mustard wide leg pants, it's funny to see how many people mistake them for a skirt! This little pleated number is the same. Maroon is looking so good amongst those autumn leaves don't you think. The down side of the season is the lapse into winter and the sun hides. Anyone feel like they need more hours in a day? For me, it's that time of the year again when stress equals skipping class. Sounds ineffectual but the thought of thinking of something to wear, taking a train and walking in through the rain with a heavy bag is immediately wiped out when I think; I can wear sweats, crank up the heating and lay my work out on my living room floor. Two hours spent travelling really takes the daylight out of a day. When I'm leaving at 6pm and it's pitch black all I can think of is crashing in my bed!

Summer, please come back!

I know I've been MIA for more than a month now! But I come back with a few outfits in hand that I'll put up over the next few weeks. I've been busily making a tailored jacket and skirt at school. I'll finally be done with it this month. Excited to show you all!

A couple of sundays ago I took my friend to the market. She's an Amsterdam exchange student and I think Camberwell Market is a must see if you're ever in Melbourne, it's full of really great clothes and knick-knacks. I picked a a vintage blazer with cut out back, a sheer floral dress and these really amazing mustard pants for four dollars! I added my Asos cropped jumper and Aldo skyscraper wedges so that the hem didn't trail along the floor - the sadness of being short!

We meet shall again! I got accepted into exchange at FIT and I'll be going over there in August. I absolutely cannot wait. Any great places to see off the the tourist scene will be great to know of. I have to find great coffee somewhere in Chelsea to ward off any itches to get back to the Melbourne caffeine that I am addicted to! Can't wait to check out Opening Ceremony and The MoMa because I missed out last time.

goodbye fashion week

This week I watch a couple of shows and also attended a business seminar with people like Mikael Schiller from Acne Studios,Jan Nord and Jorgen Anderson of H&M, Jeffersson Hack founder of Dazed & Confussed and Graham Fuller from Bally. Amazingly insight and a delight to hear the stories behind securing designers like Karl Lagerfeld for a collaboration. I do believe he volunteered, well more demanded I should say to be in all the ad campaigns, all before telling Jan and Jorgen all about their own brand!

Taken by the Australian Fashion Guide at LMFF Runway 3! Same out fit as before with different shoes!

Autumn brings about cozy knits. I'm so glad I did an Asos order during Summer for Winter clothing because now I'm all ready for the colder weather! I love to wear them with my leather shorts or with maxi skirts. Really easy to mix and match it's just what I need when I'm awake but still zombie like at 6:30am in the morning.

Autumn is a couple of days ahead, and it already looks like it's started. Lately I've been in love with pale greens on blouses. I would love to pair this with some kind of burgundy coat. I think that would be a great autumn colour palette. I'm on the hunt for some great summer staples at the moment, any suggestions?

I found these photos while doing some research for school. The tailoring is immaculate and the photos are absolutely serene. A calm I think I'll need when school drops all the assessments on me. I'm at school four days a week this semester and am doing interships two days of the week and maybe working once a week. I do believe this leaves me with no sleep in, umm ahh ever!

It's sweltering heat right now, much like the day my sister took these photos on our day out in the city. We were mistaken for tourists, our fault I might add as we toured the Shrine of Rememberance just because we were in the area. We look like we're holding hot cups of coffee but I should mention that they're sneakily iced lattes in disguise. For some reason this Cofee HQ had no idea what an iced latte was and decided to make a cold version in a hot coffee cup. How odd... The guy making it had no idea if it would taste good or not, but I assure you it was the best. But that might be the hot weather swaying me!

A late post about last Sunday, but here it is! My sister and I went to Camberwell Market, a first for the year. I have now discovered that hot weather, crowds of people and a long skirt doesn't really give me any motivation to trawl through market stalls. I did find a nice polka dot vintage dress right of the bat. It looked slightly hacked at with the fraying sleeve and dress hem but I have now altered it to something more fitting. I'll have to wait til it comes out of the wash to show you all! I also found a nice stone necklace. The rest of the afternoon included Vietnamese food and a trip to Ikea where my sister and I did like 300 days of summer and pretended every room was our apartment!

A season late but I'm doing my spring cleaning. Funny how everything looks messier than it started out to be...

I have to admit I've been missing on this blog for more than a month now, holiday season had to be enjoyed! I had fun going back through everyones holiday posts when I came back, I must say it took me nearly 3hrs to catch up! A couple of new buys while I was in Malaysia:

I'm wearing colour? It has to be a blue moon! I found this dress at a vintage store in St Kilda, that day I went to the beach with my sister and spent to much time on markets and vintage stores. I was going to wear to work at my library but then thought about how cold the air conditioning in and changed my mind. It's just so cute I had to share! I'm off to Malaysia early tomorrow morning, Happy Christmas Shopping!

Currently; eating choc chip cookies with milk in my pjs watching tv. I'm so glad there's isn't a sight of a ruler, coloured pencil or marker in front of me. Tafe's over for the year so here comes a couple of months of holidays. Can't wait to hit Zara and Topshop when I go overseas next month, yes living in Melbourne is sad sometimes - nah I don't really mean that!

On Saturday I went to Petrova's Summer Soiree. Although it was windy, the sun was out and it was a beautiful day to look at pretty clothes at her store Lady Petrova that's just off Flinders Lane. It's a must visit if you're in Melbourne.

I made my dress out of fabric I got from her garage sale. It's curtain material dyed a light purple by Petrova herself! We ate delicious cupcakes on the night while trying not to dirty the clothes!

An amazingly warm day to remind us that winter is behind us for another season and spring is on occasion warm, when the clouds decide to take a break from raining. The warmer weather insisted a trip to Camberwell Market was in order. I found a denim shirt, which i have two of now (in different sizes), a dusted pink blouse and a navy crepe maxi skirt. Then it was off to Lady Petrova's Garage sale where I picked up some pretty floral silk and lilac lace that she hand dyed herself! We were so close to the beach that we decided to make a stop for lunch. A lack of breakfast, or shall I say an unhealthy one at that (coffee and hash browns) combined with day light savings means I was starving at 10am! My sister and I spot a vintage shop on the drive to the beach so we stop for some more eventful shopping. After a good chat with the girl who works there; I walked out with a cute dress with a bird print and sunnies.

I was however making mental notes on which pieces I should buy and while being a clothes hanger (fit model) I was thinking of outfits I could make with his new collection! I've just discovered Sara Phillips; Aussie designer from Sydney. Her collection for Spring/Summer is very soft and feminine and exactly what I've been looking for. I spent a whole day at Chadstone with no avail, and then when I wasn't expecting it, I found the perfect dress for a friends engagement party. I visited The Dressing Room at the GPO during my lunch break when I helped backstage for the Style Sessions Fashion Show during Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. Mind you it was only half an hour with 10 minutes already spent on buying much needed coffee! I ruled out a nude maxi dress by Willow and asked the shop assistant if there was anything she suggested. She handed me this dress called 'Chrysler' and said they came in that day. & next thing I know, it came home with me!

I just wanted to share some of my new purchases, yes I've been on a bit of a thrifting, ebaying, online shopping binge - but honestly, when am I not? I have to let you in on a secret though, I did where flats with this outfit when I wore this out for coffee. I just have to figure out how long I can with stand in these Jeffery Campbell's. If anyone has taken them out for a spin, let me know if they're comfy please :)

I'm very much into the whole trouser look, polished or casual I swing either way.I think my favourite would be paired with my Zara trench coat, feels a bit man-ly but I like it!

I just got a lookbook account recently, here's my first look! Just yesterday I had the perfect Sunday. There were dumplings, walking in the windy streets of the city, a gallivant around Fitzroy Gardens, Laurent for cappuccinos and pear tart, an afternoon power walk and more Laurent cake after dinner. A rare day spent with my family on my mum's birthday.

Although we are a season behind, my favourite shoes for winter are from Zara. They are part hiker, part combat and part glamour in disguise. I picked up an army shirt for a buck at the op shop which I think was used by a boy scout because the inside has the hand writing of a mother, inscribing her son's name.

Allo! I haven't had an outfit post up for a while now, I wanted to put up these leggings I made with a suede like faux leather but it was too dark when I got home to take any good photos. I will definitely put on that outfit again when it's bright out to show you guys. I love them so much! Here's one of me in the mean time layering it up for a typical autumn day. On Saturday my sister and I packed our handmade items and drove to Brunswick for the Blackbird monthly market. It was such an ingenious idea to combine a pub not only with vintage and handmade items but also with delicious burgers and live bands. Loon Lake were my favourite with a beat that reminded me of Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons.

Today, not in this outfit though, I scored an internship with Lui Hon. I believe I was on a real high and coffee high after having three cups of coffee all before the clock hit 2pm. I had on an almost typical all black 'Melbourne' outfit on with Complex Geometries top, Zara pants, with cream zip up heels and Alexander Wang bag to break up the black. Here I am wearing Alexander Wang T top, Sussan Blazer, Topshop jeans and heels from Malaysia. I planned to wear this on Easter Sunday yesterday but it got too hot so I went without the blazer. I came home with lots of mosquito bites though!

It's getting cooler her, but when the sun comes out I like to bring out myy favourite colour pallette of soft neutral tones. It's been such a busy past two weeks since I've started Tafe. Really early mornings, not enough coffee, a peak hour train ride and heavy bag isn't a great start to the week! I wish I had more time to snap some of the outfits I've worn over the couple of weeks, but everytime I get home the sun is setting and I've been itching for a shower.

I bought this vintage dress at Retro Star in the city a couple of days ago and gave it a good wash straight away. It was a bit long so I tied up the ends to create a little drape. It'd be too hard to see but there are these gorgeous clear buttons. I'm wearing the dress with a Pull and Bear blazer, Michael Kors watch and bag and shoes from Malaysia.

Last Saturday I headed up to the city for the Slow Fashion Show that was held in Federation Square. I will let the photos do the talking, but I will say it was amazing seeing my clothing being worn and so many people see it happening.

After checking my phone, catching up on blogs, watching 'New York, I Love You', looking at the calendar, uploading holiday photos, attempting sit ups, sipping water, cleaning out my bag, lieing in front of the fan, listening to my iPod and rearranging my suitcase - I decided to take some photos to show you some of my new buys. I only had this outfit on for under 5 minutes because it's still stinking hot in Malaysia; absolutely not appropriate for my new Zara fur vest and boots.

I love these boots, they're really comfy and the thing I can quite put my finger on is whether they look more like hiker or snow boots - my vest is like a Yeti next to these babies.

I just had to show you my leopard like nails done for cheap at a nail bar in KL.

The event will showcase fair trade, vintage, handmade and environmentally sustainable new fashion and include individuals who demonstrate their unique style without costing the earth.

This is not going to be your normal eco fashion show - the line-up includes activists, cyclists, gogo dancers and, of course, designers all making a song and dance about changing our fashion habits– Slow Fashion is going to show Melbourne how to do sustainable with style!

One thing that I can rely on is that my fist full of rings and Alexander Wang bag are workable to any outfit. So far I haven’t been able to stop using them in my outfits day or night. I took these last photos before I left for Malaysia when I went to watch Nine. Now that i am without my so called ‘base’ for an outfit, it’s really easy for locals to guess that I’m from Australia because of my thongs (flip flops) and denim shorts! I’ve got lots of new bags and shoes to show you when I get back - can’t wait.

Out on a fabric run today to Brunswick I'm wearing my handmade drape skirt, fresh off the sewing machine.

While out in Brunswick, my sister and I stopped by Bimbos Deluxe, an extra delicious spot for gourment pizza. There's the normal table seating area, couches and rootop with kitsh nic nacs everywhere like photo frames, thrifted heels stuck upside down under the stairs, baby plastic dolls with wings on it hanging from the ceiling, flavoured vodka held in fish bowls and a sign saying 'Your handbag looks better on you than it does on a theif!'

It was my twenty-first a couple of nights ago, I dressed up, I drank up, I partied up and I slipped down some stairs. I got a few new pieces to add to my little jewlery collection, an aries goat ring from my sister because the goat looked nicer than my true star sign; capricorn, a Tiffany's 1937 Circle pendant necklace from my parents and a little maple leaf necklace from Niagra Falls from a friend.

Just fresh back from my days in the US. I spent a week in NY and I have to say, it all sums up to; I Love NY! Amongst all the toursit sites, there was of course the shopping. Ah! Bergdorfs was calling me. On the fifth level I found Alexander Wang, I had been looking forward to getting my hands on the T label and one of his bags. Sass and Bide at GPO hosted Scott Schuman's book signing in Melbourne today. My sister bought me the book for christmas, so i've gotten to see my present early & getting the book signed by the man himself was the cherry on the cake!

I think if Scott was to pursue some sort of acting, he should definately try out for a Bond movie, there is definately a certain je ne sais quoi about him.

A little inspiration from a collection of works at the National Gallery of Victoria, titled Drape: Classical Mode to Contemporary Dress.

A little history that was displayed on the walls; “After animal skins, draped woven cloth was the first means of clothing, and in Ancient Greece, was worn in countless configurations to indicate class, gender and social positioning. Over time, the wearing of loose cloth has become associated with elegance, timelessness, comfort, wealth, prestige, divinity and barbarism.”

The Girl With A Feather and I went out for some crepes and collapsed in the garden at the gallery for some much needed resting of our feet before making it to see the collection that included, Comme des Garcon, Christian Dior, Dolce and Gabbana and show pieces from Kylie Minogue!

I did a design exercise today at RMIT that went on for two hours. I thought it was way too long to design three outfits, but boy was i wrong. In the last half hour I quickly coloured in my final looks, labeled them and wrote my rationale. The photos they gave me for inspiration was quite fitting really because most things that I design revolve around them anyway. The first was a lace bra, the second were neon lights and the last one was a flower. I called my looks, 'Une Fille Comme Moi' and used the inspiration to design a work to drinks outfit, evening dress and a weekend look. Fingers crossed that I get noticed out of the 600 odd people that are taking the design exercise.

I celebrated my last exam with a bit of pre-shopping - yes i got a bit excited. I had another interview yesterday for fashion at box hill tafe and had time before my one and only exam so I dropped by and decided to buy these tights after all. I haven't the legs but this was inspired by natalie off duty;

The first is a dusty red cowl drape dress. It's got six cowl drapes around the body and boning in the bodice. I found this gorgeous silk at Rathdowne Fabrics where they film Project Runway Australia. I'm still considering whether to wear it to my twenty first or go out and buy one.

The second dress was inspired by the white and grey fabric with paint swishing patterns on it. I used about 4 meters of cording and covered it with the material to create the curves on the hips. I contined this design on the back, you can't see it clearly here but it has curved out outs and a low back. I wish it didn't turn out so short though, I don't think I can wear it out like that!

I think the word i'm looking for right now is exhausted. I've just spent more than 12 hours finishing up all my prep for my fashion design course interview tomorrow. All the fine lining, colouring, printing and sticking is finally all done. To top it off I also made a one piece cut out inspired swimsuit. I'll have the garments I've made in another blog soon. For not I have something I wore to work the other day.

I seem to purchase a watch everytime I go overseas, this time I have my eyes set on a pretty Michael Kors I spied today. I love the details, from the two tone contrast right down to the tiny seconds they've written on the outter edge of the watch face.

A trip to the states, i can envision all the shopping to be had already! I'm having Zara and Topshop withdrawal symptoms! They include dangerous levels of internet browsing and heavy attempts to refrain from clicking 'add to cart'! I'm especially looking forward to checking out the vintage stores while I'm in LA and NY. Camberwell market this morning. It was drizzling the whole time but we still made it through without opening the umbrella. I bought a beautiful vintage oversized top/dress thing that I'm actually holding above. It's dark blue with silver and grey lines and strands of tinsel through it. I can't wait to play with it after it comes out of the wash - it of course has the old smell we all know and try to ignore! I also got a necklace with light turquoise stones. My sister and I had the same thought that it would go so well with a maxi dress.

I wouldn't of ever imagined to wear leather pants if you suggested them to me last year. Recently they're popping up everywhere from black patent leather pants and shoes to the grey leather pants model off duty look. I found these at Hold My Gold Vintage and thank god they fit! I kept the styling simple, and heels are a definate must if you're 5'2 like me.

I finally found time to squeeze the late showing of The September Issue, with sadly, no doubt less than ten people in the cinema. It thought it was a great insight to the real magazine world, The Devil Wears Prada is so, very exagerated in terms of theartics but you do get the coldness from Anna Wintour and just a glimse of rare emotion. It was actually exhauasting watching everyone in the office rush around but then again that could be because of the fact that I had been to the gym and worked a full 8 hours before seeing the 9:30pm showing.

I wish I had a copy of that September Issue.

I'm not much of a fan of Michael Kors' ready to wear lines but I do love his accessories. I got some sunnies to match the watch I got in Paris at the start of the year. I'm a bit sad though because I got the battery changed at no doubt a cheap asian place, and ended up having the side of it cracked - not good. These sunglasses have a brown tinge with slight tortoise shell print.

I tried on the ray ban pair kind of like these and I looked so funny, they for som reason stuck out at the top a lot. I tried on so many pairs before I got to these. I'm happy I have them already for summer!

Wednesday night at Designer Series 2 they had Dhini, Ginger & Smart, Gorman, Kirrily Johnston, Life With Bird, Nicola Finetti. Lot's of drape in soft jersey knits in navy and mustard at Dhini to white, peach and black at Kirrily Johnston. Dresses were maxi or short, flowy or tight and sculpted in Nicola Finetti.

a little inspired, i made some of my own chain jewelry.

the chain necklace is very much inspired by the sisters at Litter.

it's like a necklace, only it connects at the back in a vest shape.

so great for wearing over plain jersey pieces like a tee or cotton dress.

this ring and bracelet combo is extremely like the one on Bona Drag

& is seen worn by Fashion Toast.

i made mine a little more looser, more draped.

There hasn't been much new clothing in my shop lately, but finally, here's a grey corset inspired tulip dress. I've named it after the colour of the new car I'll be zipping around in; a little Mazda 2. And I believe the last 'new' thing would be my super short hair cut. Ok, it's probably not as short as it can be, but it's definatley the shortest I've had it - ever.
